You’ve studied for your NYSTCE test, but that scenario still rears it’s ugly head: you simply don’t know the answer to a question. Since your NYSTCE test is timed to approximately one minute per question, you have two options to quickly choose from. Either you can move on and return to the question if you have any time remaining, or you could employ the fine art of educated guesstimating.

Eliminate Wrong Answers. Know that at least one or two answers are definitely wrong? Then you can increase your odds of getting the right answer. If you’re more mathematically-minded, think about it this way: eliminating just one wrong answer increases your odds of getting the right answer by 20%. How’s that for great odds?

Avoid The “Danger” Words. Answers with words like “always”, “never”, “all”, and “everyone” are usually wrong, since they’re sweeping generalities. NYSTCE test makers love tripping future teachers up with these trick questions!

Longer Is Better. If you’re choosing between a long and short answer, go for the long one. However, avoid this strategy if the longer answer contains any technical jargon. These are trick questions designed to confuse you.

Do you want to become a nurse and have taken the NCLEX-RN exam so many times that you are about to give up? Is failure just around the corner for you? Have you tried hard enough? I know. You have tried as hard as you can and every time you feel frustrated because of your failure. You are not alone. Such delays will only cost you thousands of dollars of salary increase. Marla lost out on an additional $50,000 salary increase because it took her two attempts before passing the NCLEX test.

NCLEX REVIEW IN MOTION

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSB) develops and administers the NCLEX exam. The test is mandatory for anyone who wants to become a nurse. A lot of people consider the NCLEX test to be the final obstacle to any career in nursing.

The exam questions in the NCLEX focuses on how an individual is able to make critical decisions in a patient care scenario. It tests you on how to understand the basic nursing principles and apply them to patient management and care.

Testing format is in the form of computer adaptive testing. The more your answer is correct the harder questions the computer will throw at you. Sounds scary? Don’t let it be. The NCLEX test tries to equate your level of knowledge and understanding with the appropriate questions that fit. The good thing is that you are able to answer each question without any time constraints. However the test taking time is no more than five hours long.

Medical terminology review is a must when it comes to passing the NCLEX test. The ability to understand medical abbreviations is the key to the exam success. It is after passing the NCLEX exam that you will be afforded an opportunity to practice in a medical environment, which adds to more lucrative job openings.

CHALLENGING THE NCLEX TEST

The challenge in the NCLEX Test is to learn how to assess each individual situation before contacting the medical doctor. Knowing how to prioritize and delegate task to other support personnel also a component of how the questions will flow.

Treat each question with similar levels of difficulty. Don’t think that questions are getting easier and that you are falling below the level of difficulty. Time yourself to at least one minute per question. If you have to take an educated guess on each question, feel free to do so. There are no penalties for doing that. Never discuss the NCLEX exam negatively with anyone. This creates a losing mindset. Pay attention to these three words; except, not and always. In your study time focus on the area that you are weak in.

Get a good practice NCLEX study guide and use that as your guide to go over each material individually. If you really want to pass the NCLEX exam the first time around, then get the 7 day NCLEX comprehensive success system that takes the guess work out of passing the NCLEX exam.
