“SLOWING DOWN THE NERVES OF GACE TEST TAKING”

Taking an exam or test can be quite a daunting and a nerve wracking experience especially if you are not prepared. Imagine going into the GACE testing center with no idea of what will be on the test and especially if you have not gone over any of the materials that would prepare you for the GACE test. You would be sitting like a blank slate not knowing what to do.

If you were fully prepared you could go in with so much more confidence that you would welcome the opportunity to take the test and pass it.

Of course, you are going to have some nerves going in because you don’t know what to expect, but for the most part, when you study for the test, you will be in control of the nerves with some self talk.

ANXIETY ERASES YOUR FOCUS

When you are extremely anxious it takes you off focus when you are taking the GACE test. With any serious exam you have to remain focused. How do you stop the jitters in your stomach from affecting your focus? Well some of the things you can do are:

  1. Make sure you get the proven study guide to pass the GACE test and study for the test. Give yourself time to grasp all the information that you will need to pass. Being prepared helps to limit the amount of anxiety that you will experience.
  2. Be thorough and organized. Learn the material and organize your thoughts to focus on what you have learned.
  3. Get enough sleep. Don’t be up too late studying especially the night before the GACE test. Lack of sleep can bring on anxiety.
  4. Never go to the exam with an empty stomach. Keep away from junk food which can increase stress tremendously. Fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal. The body and mind can react adversely to certain kinds of foods.

TAKE OFF THE SHACKLES OF ANXIETY DURING THE GACE TEST

During the GACE test be sure to remain calm. Take deep breaths and relax. Read the instructions carefully before you answer the question. Structure your test taking time for each question.

Fear might sometimes grip you when you cannot answer a question. Move on to the next question or begin writing if you are doing an essay and the answer might come back to you.

Positive reinforcement is a strategy to erase anxiety. Acknowledge that you are doing your best and keep going.
